SPSS Tips & Tricks #9 – info in data editor
Hi, did you know that you can get a lot of extra information directly within the data window? You just hover over with the mouse or right click on the column head.
First if you hover over the column head you get a yellow box with information of variable label and measurement level (here: Nominal).
If you instead right click in the column head, you get a popup menu to choose commands from, see example of another column called “Division”:
Then you get an extra box with all information of the variable, (Division):
In this variable I don’t have any variable label (=”Label”) but I have “Value Labels” for 5 digit codes.
If you right click the column head again and instead choose:
You will instead get descriptive statistics customized of this variable’s measurement level, and the summarize will show up in the output/Viewer window:
So start to right click around, and discover your data!
