SPSS Tips & Tricks #15 – find first letter in dialog box
In your daily work with IBM SPSS Statistics, it is of high value to learn smart tricks to be effective. I will teach you a simple one – use your key board more. Some user spend a lot of time to scroll among all variables in the dialog box. Instead: if you know that the variable label start with the letter “d” just type in d and you will find the first variable label (or name) that starts with that letter.
Here is a picture from the compute command, where you have a long list of functions – there it’s effective to use this simple trick. In the example below I want to find the function: “mean”:
