SPSS 4: MIXED MODELS AND MULTIVARIATE METHODS
This course will, during the first day, address two advanced statistical areas, namely mixed models and time series. The mixed models are divided into linear (often used for repeated measurements and abbreviated as LMM, linear mixed models) as well as generalized models (abbreviated as GLMM, generalized linear mixed models) but only LMM will be handled in this course. During the second day, a couple of multivariate statistical models will be explored. These methods are sometimes used as hypothesis-generating methods and they have the purpose of going through a material without hypothesis. Factor analysis is usually used in two ways, partly as a hypothesis generator but also as a hypothesis-confirming method (for example in the validation of questionnaires).
Goal: The goal is that participants after this course will be able to use simpler forms of the advanced statistical models in mixed models, time series analysis and multivariate models.
Previous Knowledge: SPSS 1 and SPSS 2 or equivalent prerequisites in basic statistics. If you have not participated in SPSS 2, it would be good if you had solid knowledge of ANOVA and regression (including logistic regression). You should have a good grasp on managing the program’s functions.
Language: The course is held in Swedish or English (see respective course date for details).
